Estevan
Once there was a time when I was too naive,
But that was all changed when you set your eyes on me.
You claimed you were a friend--a harmless little touch,
But then my life shattered when that touch was too much.
I don’t know when I will start to feel again.
The heart inside of me, in pain.
Oh, my memories they burn slowly in my mind.
It’s burning what I have away.
I wrestle with my thoughts becoming more defiled.
For now, there is hate where a love used to reside.
Now I cannot find the strength to lift my head.
Where there was once honor lies depravity instead.
One day, it will shine again.
This cloud will be no longer.
When that day comes, I’ll know why,
Because I’ve been made stronger.
I’m facing what’s ahead by what is in my past.
A terrible chapter for the writer to have grasped.
The trials that seem so hard are hard to comprehend.
I face my life, keeping a' one eye on the end.
My Bike
There's just one thing that I love more than anything.
I hold it so near to my heart.
It has just one gear and a pair of blue training wheels,
A headlight to see in the dark.
I like my bike.
It's not like other bikes.
It has pinwheels and a purple banana seat,
Loud cards in the spokes as they bend.
It has a big horn that I honk when you're in my way,
So I don't run over my friends.
I like my bike.
It's not like other bikes.
I ride my bike to the girl that I like,
And she looks at me and my bike.
A tear fills her eye as she's filled with great pride,
When I ask her to take a ride.
Me and my girl, we ride all over town on it.
My guide is the street and the sun.
We stop for a shake--I pretend we’ll share all of it,
When I hit the eject button.
I like my bike.
It’s not like other bikes.
The Box.

Food Lion. Roar!
Told to sit there on the couch, arms crossed with no idea about
What they wanted to tell me that meant so much.
Then it all came out,
Another thing to think about,
Another twist to keep me down and all confused, weary once again.
Walking home from school one day, I’m thinking of how I could be
Not a part of life, because they’ll never be
Done with all the fights,
Done with taking me into the
Middle ground--quartering me with no success.
Weary once again.
I can’t say the slate is clean--in some ways it will never be.
To forget is what I cannot ever do.
I’m left with only one,
The other gone forever, saved.
No more reason to blame--it is all on me.
I relent and go on.

And when you do, I’ll still be here, despite your disgrace.

I’m sick of watching you try to fake it.

Why pretend that I cannot see?

So what’s the point to stay away?

Cowboy
Riding on the range with his six gun at his side,
He’s heading into town with a sneer he can’t hide.
Doesn’t wanna fight, but a fight he will find.
Nothing up his sleeve, ‘cause he ain’t the cheating kind.
High in the saddle, he heads into battle.
One bullet is all that he brings.
He hushes the room when he walks in saloons,
And everyone sings...

Sleeping ‘neath the stars with a wary open eye.
A cactus for a pillow--he can hear the coyote’s cry.
He doesn’t need no woman--no partner at his side.
A loner and a rambler with that outlaw pride.
